Have mercy on me, for I am afraid
God of salvation, please come to my aid
Attackers who have no honor or shame
Seek to pursue me for all of the day

But when I’m afraid
I trust in Your name
In Your Word I praise
I trust in Your name, in Your Word I praise
And what can they do to me?

They twist all my words to say what they mean
And seek to undo me in all that they scheme
Lurking and stalking, pestering me
God of salvation, repay all their deeds

For when I’m afraid
I trust in Your name

You’ve numbered my tossings
You’ve bottled my tears
You’ve felt all my misery
And heard all my fears
But will I be left to know
The pain and war and fear
When Your Word I praise
And trust in Your name

Yet, I will offer all of my thanks
For You have rescued my soul from the grave
You have upheld me, You lead the way
That I may serve You for all of my days

And when I’m afraid
