“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life.  Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.  Do you believe this?”  John 11:25-26

One year for Spring break, we did a staycation.  We didn’t do anything really remarkable.  We purposefully made things pretty simple.  We enjoyed each other.  We enjoyed the simplicity of our schedule, and we enjoyed the basic elements of our life together. . . cooking, baking, going outside, getting some necessary chores done, and catching up on a few things we have wanted to do.  You might say, we enjoyed “getting back to the basics.”

We are entering the season of the church calendar when we focus our attention on the sacrifice Christ made for us on the cross.  We consider our own sinful nature, we consider our need for forgiveness, and we embrace the gift freely given to us by God through the sacrifice of His Son.  If we were to “go back to the basics” of the Gospel, this would be it!  I pray for your children what I pray for my own. . . that they would recognize their need for a Savior, that they would embrace Jesus as God’s gracious gift to them.
